About The Event
In the mornings, students will learn introductory coding concepts at their own pace using game building tools such as Scratch, MakeCode, and Minecraft. At the end of the camp, the students will show their work during demo time.
Topics Covered
- Introduction to Coding
- App design and testing
- Debugging
- Beginning Graphic Design
- Teamwork and Presentation Skills
Students will create various games and apps while learning basic programming concepts such as variables, looping, and conditionals.
In the afternoon, students will work with minicomputers that they assemble to accomplish fun but challenging tasks. Using the Raspberry Pi circuit board, students will learn the various parts of a computer and how they work together to "compute". We will cover intermediate programming concepts and then dive headfirst into building.
Projects Include:
- Design and planning
- Building
- Coding
- Testing
- Presentations.
They will work on projects building a soil moisture monitor, a digital compass, a beacon tracker, and even a game of hot potato!
After successfully completing the camp, students will receive a free CODEFORCE t-shirt and will have earned their beginners coders and builder camp badges.
